Combustible gases are present in various processes of the manufacturing of automobiles. These hazardous gases can be a threat to employees, equipment and the facility as a whole.

This is true at the end of an automobile production line, where the fully automated fuel pump distributes fuel into the automobile's gas tank. During this procedure, fuel can spill into a sump located below, where it can accumulate into a highly dangerous concentrations.

Electrostatic spray booths, found in major automobile plants, are the source of another combustible threat. The paint source, which is electrically charged powder, is susceptible to explosions that can cause fires.
Hazard Source Safety Solution
Car fuel (combustible) Automated fuel pump and sump Millennium II, Millennium II BASIC, MLP-SC1100 (Catalytic Bead), MLP-SIR100 (Infrared)
Fire Electrically charged powder in paint used in electrostatic spray booths Phoenix IR3 (multi-spectral infrared) detector, Smart UV/IR detector, Smart UVS detector
